Leaf Cutter Ants in the Rainforest
The image appearing at the top of the website pages is a painting of leaf cutter ants marching along a liana vine. It is a wonderous sight to see! Leaf Cutter ants carve up leaves and blossoms into pieces they can transport back to the interior of the ant mound. The ants don't actually eat the leaves or blossoms, they use them as a substrate to grow a fungus which is fed to the developing ant larvae.
